Emily Nickerson - Director of PWYP-Canada
Emily Nickerson is the Director of Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Canada. Prior to joining PWYP, she was the Director of Programs at the Mining Shared Value (MSV) initiative of Engineers Without Borders Canada. Her work at Mining Shared Value included leading partnerships to push for more local procurement transparency through the development of the Mining Local Procurement Reporting Mechanism with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) as well as research on local procurement policies with the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute (CIRDI) and International Institute for Sustainable Investment (IISD)
Before joining Mining Shared Value, Emily worked with Pollen Group evaluating systems-change approaches to agricultural market development in Tanzania and Uganda. Previously at Purpose Capital, an impact investment advisory firm, she supported business plan development for social enterprises to launch and grow. Emily's research experience also includes using participatory engagement to address issues of water management and infrastructure in Canadian Indigenous communities. She holds a degree in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Guelph, and currently resides in Toronto.
